Obado Makes a Huge Announcement Ahead Of The August Election

It appears that Deputy President William Ruto may have lost the backing of Migori governor Okoth Obado, who is one of his closest allies in the ODM-dominated Luo Nyanza region.

Obado, who secured a second term in 2017 on ODM's ticket, has since fallen out with the party, but he was considered very close to Ruto, possibly the DP's pointman for Nyanza until recently.

There has been speculation that he could support the DP's pending bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta come August based on his presence with him on presidential campaign tours.

However, he has expressed indirect statements that this is not the plan, suggesting that he will not endorse Ruto for the presidency, adding that his PDP party is also keen on producing a new president.

In response to reports that Ruto is using the PDP to scatter the Luo Nyanza vote, he asked his critics to stop looking at his party as a branch of other parties.
