Raila Odinga Rejects Presidential Results Announced By IEBC Chairman On Monday,15.
Tuesday, 16th August 2022, Nairobi Kenya.
Azimio La Umoja Coalition Leader Raila Odinga has rejected the 2022 presidential results a day after IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati announced the winner of the election at Bomas of Kenya, claiming that the results are null and void.
In a closely contested election, Mr. Ruto was proclaimed the victor after receiving 50.49% of the vote to Raila Odinga's 48.85%.
Raila told Kenyans at the Kenya International Convention Centre that they understand that only Mr Chebukati alone had access to the tally of the presidential vote and he denied all commissioners access to that information.
"The law on the IEBC provides that unless a unanimous decision is reached, a decision on any matter before the commission shall be by a majority of the members present and voting," said Raila.
He told Kenyans that the figures announced by Mr. Chebukati were null and void and must be quashed by a court of law. He said that the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya and the nation at large were shocked yesterday to learn that Mr. Chebukati alone decided to pronounce the supposed winner of the 2022 presidential without engaging other IEBC Commissioners.
