Matungulu MP Picks Fight With Senate Over Revenue Allocation Bill Stalemate

Matungulu member of parliament Stephen Mutinda Mule has castigated the senate for slowing the decision on revenue sharing bill.

Speaking in his constituency Mule accused the senators of politicizing the whole process thus delaying the release of money to counties.

He said that due to that counties haven't received a dime thus putting a lot of things in a halt.

The vibrant lawmaker noted that a lot of projects have stalled and workers have remained unpaid despite the pangs of COVID-19.

"Senators I would love to ask you politely, petty politics about the money that should be allocated to counties won't help the country. We should understand that there are Kenyans employed by county governments and they haven't been paid since May because of you," said Mule.

"This is because you're busy seated debating on which county to give more money while they go hungry. Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, a lot of people can't put food on the table and so by delaying their pay you're demoralizing them " he added.

He said that the issues about revenue allocation will be sorted in the Building Bridges Initiative and the senators won't have a say about it.

He asked them to expedite the process to ensure the funds have been released to the counties as soon as possible.

He observed that in May the national government approved the funds and now the problem lies with the senate.
