“Please Respect Us” What IEBC Official Has Asked Media, Agents, Observers Not to Do at Bomas

Journalists, agents and election observers who have been allowed access of the Bomas of Kenya have been cautioned by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

IEBC Commissioner Prof Abdi Guliye has asked media, agents and observers not to take pictures of the IEBC officials who are working at Bomas.

This is after Guliye revealed that officials from the electoral body will be working in the middle of Bomas where they have set up tables for verifying results and forms they will be receiving.

Guliye asked those who will be inside Bomas to respect the privacy of IEBC officials who are at different desks as they receive presiding officers.

The media, agents and observers will be viewing what is going on at the different desks as IEBC officials continue to do preliminary checks and quality assurance.

“We are asking the media, election observers, agents or anybody not to take any pictures of what is going on on the desks. Please respect us because we have given you as much openness as possible but respect the privacy of the people who are working there and their faces,” said Guliye.

“We do not want the faces of our officers to be splashed all over the world,” added Guliye.
