It has been found out that there are firms causing Kenya Power and Lighting Company to charge extra Sh17 per unit. If Duale's intervention will bear fruits, Kenyans will be able to save on those extra charges. The Garrisa Township MP feels consumers are being unfairly burdened by KPLC.
KPLC gets its power from two sources: KenGen and Independent Suppliers. KenGen reportedly charges KPLC Sh0.5 per kilowatt hour. It baffles Duale that the independent suppliers would charge a whooping Sh23 per kilowatt hour.
Duale has already questioned the Ministry of Energy to report on the glaring discrepancies. Apart from this intervention, Duale has been vocal in parliament and has introduced key bills. His notable contribution was The University Amendment Act. Not only did it introduce gender parity in universities, it has also greatly reduced cases of striking in Kenyan universities. Duale has also tabled a motion in parliament which seeks a Sh20 million fine for people found with sexually explicit contents.
