Kenya is a sovereign nation that is under the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta. The country is guided by the new constitution that consist of the fundamental human rights and freedoms such as every citizen is entitled to participate in economic activities so as to earn a living.
It's bad news to Nessuit and Marioahoni residents following the act of the government issuing a notice that all maize farmers should refrain from planting the crop as one of the ways to promote security.
The County Commissioner of Nakuru County Mr. Erastus Mbui has warned that the government notice will run as from February to December. It's said that the move will help to curb the insecurity where many robbers and terrorists have been using the maize plantations as a hiding place before they commit the hineous acts.
The government's move has been greatly opposed by the residents who have claimed that maize plantation has been their main economic activity that has sustained them in the recent years.
In conclusion, the maize farmers have been advised by the government to cultivate other crops such as beans, cabbages and potatoes. What's your take on this, kindly share your views?
