Githu Muigai: There were a few errors In Elections but It Does not Warrant Nullification

In response to the petition filed by Raila Amollo Odinga to challenge the election of William Samoei Ruto as fifth President of the Republic of Kenya, Githu Muigai has defended the IEBC Commission, admitting that there were mistakes but not to the extent that annulment of the entire choice.

He further argued that the petitioners had made generalizations which should not have been argued in court. He acknowledged the existence of some shortcomings, but not the extent of the cancellation of the entire process.

“Was it a perfect choice, no! There's nothing like a perfect choice. These were people who can have a few flaws," he said.

“Were the few mistakes of a magnitude that allowed this court to overturn the election. Our answer is no,” he argued.

He also said the election was the fairest yet and observers had provided reports showing William Ruto won fairly.
