Aden Duale, a member of parliament from Garissa Township, has assured Deputy President William Ruto that the people of the North Eastern Region firmly support his bid for the presidency in the August elections.
After accompanying Ruto to a political rally on Tuesday, Duale claimed that the people of the North Eastern Region have realized that Ruto's Kenya Kwanza Alliance represents their interests better than Raila Odinga's Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance.
Further, he urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to refrain from endorsing Raila in order to influence his own succession and to instead provide a level playing field for all presidential candidates.
The president has no choice but to leave politics, according to the former majority leader of the National Assembly, as Ruto's group will form the new administration following the elections next month.
