Deputy President William Ruto is currently meeting with representatives from the Mount Kenya region at Masaai Mara to deliberate on many issues including interests of the people from the Mountain if at all they decide to support his Presidential bid in the upcoming 2022 elections.

Many are eager to hear the outcomes of the deliberations which is expected after the meeting is over. The Deputy President has enjoyed massive support from Mount Kenya region's leaders in the past months giving him the upper hand in regards to receiving their support in his quest. This has also been portrayed by the people from the Mountain who have turned out in large numbers and graced his past rallies.
As clarified earlier by Muranga Senator Irungu Kang'ata, the meeting serves to address some interests and weigh what plans the Deputy President has in store for the Mount Kenya region if elected as President to guarantee their support. He also indicated that the 'Tangatanga' brigade has no plans whatsoever to decamp from the Deputy presidents circle as they see him as the best suited candidate to take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The Senator, who has been an ardent supporter of the Deputy President also clarified that he is not attending the meeting since the number of leaders aligned with the Deputy President from Mount Kenya region is big. He indicated that as a region, they chose representatives to attend the meeting on their behalf so as to observe the provided covid-19 guidelines.
Despite past fears from the Deputy President's camp on the few number of leaders from Mount Kenya decamping to UDA- a party affiliated to the Ruto, many of them have assured him of their full support come 2022. Time will tell.
