Ruto Fails Another Litmus Test As The Sacred Alliance Make Their Presence Felt

Following the death of the then Machakos Senator Bonface Kabaka on 11 Dec 2020,the independent electoral and boundaries commission set the 18th of March 2021 as the date for a by-election to vote for another senator.

The Machakos senatorial by-election was another chance for the deputy president William Ruto and his allies to send their statement of intent ahead of the 2022 general elections.

The second in command has been making inroads wooing for grassroot support but having failed to garner the Kabuchai and the Matungu parliamentary seats,Machakos provided another chance for redemption.

The large crowds that were being witnessed in Machakos when the Tanga Tanga troops were campaigning for Ngengele Urbanus who vied on a UDA ticket could not reflect on the number of votes he got.

After a lot of controversies about her academic qualifications,Wiper candidate Agnes Kavindu looks set to carry the day according to preliminary results which could be a reflection that the sacred alliance is a force that cannot be ignored.

Should Ruto stand a chance of getting support from the Eastern region, Johnstone Muthama is just not the man to deliver it and the Senatorial loss should sound a warning to Ruto.
