Why Ruto’s Regime Should Fire Uhuru's County Commissioners — Opinion

During the most recent Kenya Kwanza Alliance coalition Parliamentary Group Meeting chaired by deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, the members of parliament agreed that all county commissioners aligned to President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration should be fired or reassigned.

The campaign period of 2022 brought about unreliable things as a result of the power division between President Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto. The county commissioners worked on the orders of President Uhuru Kenyatta leading to the suppression of President Ruto's allies.

Therefore, President William Ruto and his allies are justified to do revenge on the county commissioners because of the following reasons.

The county commissioners used their offices and public property to campaign for President Uhuru Kenyatta's preferred candidate, Raila Odinga. During campaign mode, county commissioners worked against the Kenya Kwanza Alliance administration. County commissioners were only expected to provide security to all coalition sides.

The county commissioners worked on a plot to rig votes in favor of Uhuru's candidate, Raila Odinga. The county commissioners were accused of buying national identity cards from their subjects through the village chiefs. The county commissioners were alleged to be issuing Ksh.1,000 notes in exchange for National Identity Cards to be used for rigging the election.

The county commissioners alongside other top-notch government officials fabricated evidence to build cases for leaders who tirelessly worked against Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga. The cases were masterminded to refute the clearance of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidates from vying for their respective seats.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Governors, and other UDA members of Parliament were arrested at the orders of the county commissioners to frustrate them during the 2022 general election. Rigathi Gachagua, Johnson Sakaja, Kimani Wamatangi, Kipchumba Murkomen, and Susan Kihika, among other leaders, were discharged from their duties, and others were arraigned in court for various fabricated cases.

Moreover, the current administration of President William Ruto will not be comfortable working together with a team that worked against them a few months ago. For efficient delivery of services to the public, the Kenya Kwanza Alliance government needs a team that it's comfortable working with.
