In order to put an end to the dictatorship and threats, a number of Kiambu Members of County Assembly (MCAs) have urged President William Ruto to restrain his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, and UDA Secretary General Veronica Maina.
The angry county assembly members, led by Nelson Munga of Ndeiya Ward, claimed that the Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua, was complicit in the plot by pressuring them to support an unpopular candidate. They accused the UDA party's Secretary General of meddling in the affairs of the county assembly by imposing its leadership on them.
Speaking to the media in front of the County Assembly buildings, they pleaded on President William Ruto to restrain party leaders who were determined to stifle democracy. The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party had duly nominated House leadership, according to two letters from the Secretary General, both dated September 26 and 27, 2022, which prompted their response.
