With President Kibaki cracking the whip after a humiliating 2005 referendum defeat, Raila became one of the victims as he was fired from Government.
Keen to stabilize his regime, Kibaki had to come up with new faces to steer his agenda for the next two years.
The Kaloleni MP became Kibaki's preferred choice to replace Mvita lawmaker Najib Balala who had been fired with Raila.
For the next two years until 2007, Dzoro was one of Kibaki's right hand men in the Coast region.
Together with Likoni MP and Local Government Minister Suleiman Shakombo, Dzoro was the man charged to deliver the Coast region to Kibaki for his re-election bid. But the move backfired.
Dzoro's decision to stick with Kibaki even when it had become very clear that the Coast region was backing Raila, proved suicidal. And since then he has never recovered.
In the race for the Kaloleni MP seat, he was thrashed by a newcomer, Samuel Kazungu Kambi.
In 2013, keen to make a comeback after five years in the cold, he contested for the Kilifi Senator seat on a United Republican Congress party but lost to ODM's Stewart Madzayo.
With his fate appearing sealed, Dzoro never vied for any political seat in 2017. Perhaps, for the 70 year old politician, he has decided to call it a day in politics. But his 2007 decision could haunt him forever.
