Ruto's North Rift Region Misses From Top 10 Counties With Highest New Voter Registrations

With just a week remaining before the new voter registration exercises officially come to an end, the electoral and boundaries body IEBC has come out to reveal the current tallies of new registrations per county.

According to IEBC, the exercise has so far failed to meet their expectations of 4.5 million new voters. As of Monday evening, a total of 800,462 new voters were reported to have been registered.

Another 125,266 old voters were said to have successfully changed their voting stations ahead of the 2022 general polls.

From the commission's new tallies, Nairobi County is currently leading in the county with 71,557 new voters. Kisii county comes second with 30,729 voters as of Monday. Here is the list of the top 10 counties with the highest new voters so far;

4 Kakamega County 29,366

5 Bungoma County 28,589

6 Kilifi County 26,004

7 Kiambu County 25,477

8 Meru county 24,279

9 Kisumu County 23,568

Most of Deputy President William Ruto's Rift Valley counties are still lacking behind in the registration exercise, with his Uasin Gishu backyard registering a total of 20,803 new voters. Nandi, Elgeyo Marakwet and Kericho counties have new 20,152, 11,186, 16,7390 voters respectively.
