"There Was No Rigging, I Won Fairly, " Ruto Tells Apex Court

On Thursday, president elect William Ruto defended his victory on presidential election held on 9 the August. Ruto via a tweet posted by Nation Kenya says he won fairly and none of the petitioners has proven claims of rigging of interference.

Through his lawyers, William Ruto, told the court he met 50% +1 threshold to be constitutionally declared as a winner. The lawyers also said the election met the required constitution standards and laws governing it.

His lawyers, led by Senior Counsel Fred Ngatia, said that all the petitioners, including Azimio la Umoja One Kenya’s Raila Odinga, have made allegations tey have failed to substantiate.

Mr Ngatia submitted that the orders sought in the primary petition by Mr Odinga are putting country in crisis.

He said

“The incumbent in office cannot even appoint anybody into office,”adding that granting the prayers sought by the petitioners would lead to “a crisis of monumental nature”.
