BBI proposed that for a person become bma prime minister or a deputy prime minister he or she must be an MP.
This means that only Raila Odinga and Mombasa County Governor Ali Hassan Joho would face each other during the party's Nomination to determine its flagbearer. The reports have also indicated that Oparanya's alleged change in tune might be influenced by the rumoured coalition talks between DP Ruto and ODM party leader Raila Odinga.
