Trouble In Paradise As Jubilee MPs Now Threatens To Quit Azimio Over PSC Position

Senator Okongo Omugeni of Nyamira has replaced Senate minority whip Fatuma Dullo on the list, prompting the members of parliament to demand one of the three posts reserved for the minority in the panel.

Eldas MP Adan Keynan said they will be hosting a parliamentary group meeting to map a route forward. Festival of Jubilee If one of their own is not appointed to the Parliamentary Service Commission, members of the Azimio la Umoja Coalition have threatened to abandon the party (PSC).

After Senate Minority Whip Fatuma Dullo's name was withdrawn off the list and substituted by Nyamira Senator Okong'o Omugeni, the MPs are demanding one of the three posts reserved for the minority in the panel.

“We were not pushed to join ODM in Azimio, we joined willingly and if they abuse Jubilee supporters we will leave willingly because we have experienced firsthand the conmanship, politics of lying, and political banditry by our brothers in Azimio” said Laikipia North MP Sarah Korere.

Korere, who was joined by ten of her colleagues, expressed dissatisfaction with the way their group has been treated in the coalition, including during the formation of parliamentary committees.

Adan Keynan, an Eldas legislator, has announced that a meeting of the parliamentary group will be held to discuss next steps.

He said, "After ODM we are the second largest party in the coalition, so it is not something that we are begging, it's our right. So we are asking the Azimio leadership to fast track these, call for a meeting, and allow Jubilee to nominate a candidate to the PSC because we are not going to be flower girls to anybody."

After much back-and-forth, Jubilee finally proposed Sirisa MP John Waluke to the Azimio coalition's commission, but the alliance has struggled to fill the few open posts. However, he did not make the cut for the final roster that was given to the legislature.

No one wants to bear the blame for Waluke not getting the full PSC treatment despite the fact that he was a top pick. No one should take advantage and shortchange Jubilee," Keynan said, adding that the subject of "what occurred" has been top of mind.

Some senators have accused Dullo of being gullible for nominating herself to the PSC without the knowledge of the leadership, and on Wednesday, the minority in the Senate voted to remove her off the list of nominees, a decision that was backed by the Senate.
