Okoth Obado, the outgoing Migori Governor has reacted to fears from residents of Nyanza Region, that Deputy President William Ruto, the now president elect, might frustrate and sideline them once he forms the next government.
As quoted in a report by the Star on Thursday, Obado who was speaking during an interview with a local radio station, urged the Luo Community to disregard the lies being peddled against Ruto, saying that he is a good leader who will serve all Kenyans irrespective of whether they voted for him or not.
Obado assured them that Ruto's Kenya Kwanza Government will roll out development projects to the region just like to the other regions, adding that he will have no option but to become the president of the whole country.
"Ruto is not a bad person, we should not have any fear that he will frustrate our people. I have known him for years, and you can remember he was supporting Raila in 2007, so I want to assure you that he cannot frustrate us," said Obado.
He went on to say that there are some people from the Luo Nation who were supporting the KKA in the August 9th polls, and thus they will ensure that the interests of the residents are safeguarded in Ruto's government.
"Our people in Kenya Kwanza Team will look at our issues as a community and ensure they are all addressed."
On those who lost their bids during last week's polls, Obado urged them to take heart since there is only one winner, and endeavor to work with those who were elected to move their regions forward.
He also implored upon Kenyans to continue maintaining peace even after the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance brigade let by Raila Odinga moves to Supreme Court to challenge Ruto's win.
