Residents Endorse Youth Advocate Okeng'o Nyambane To Succeed Senator Ongeri

The trend of installing political aspirants by elders has gained traction in the larger Gusii region a head of the August 2022 general elections.

Upon installation the aspirant irrespective of age automatically became a spokesperson in the clan or local community,he added.

The installed person is required to provide guidance including receipt of guests and personify the aspirations of his people

A section of residents in Kisii County have endorsed Okeng'o Nyambane to run for Kisii senatorial seat in the coming general elections.

Okeng'o who is an advocate of the high court and also a business man declared to run for the senatorial seat to succeed incumbent Kisii senator Sam Ongeri.

During a delegates meeting at Igege village , Kitutu Chache South,Peter Bogecho said that, they will rally behind Okeng'o for senetorial seat who has demonstrated integrity qualities to lead the Kisii community.

"We need someone who is young to account for funds from the National government to the county government and our young advocate has taken the mantle to do the job," Bogecho.

He noted the transition politics need economical justice which need someone who has the interest of the people at heart.

Peter Nyariki said that this is the right time for the youths to lead they have prooved to have skills of leadership.

Mr Nyariki states that the youths have been sidelined for long time.

"This is our time now, we cannot say that the future of our lives belongs to the youths and yet, we are not given an opportunity,"Mr Nyariki said.

However they challenged illigible youths to register as voters if they want change in the county.

They noted that it's through registration they will choose a leader of their choice.

Caroline Moraa said they are going to mobilize those who have not registered for voters cards to do so.

"From our villagers,we are going to ensure we have 98%voters registration in this second phase for us to vote our favorite candidates," said Moraa.

At now four candidates have declared their bid for the senatorial position including Advocate Okeng'o Nyambane, Kitutu South MP Richard Onyonka,Kisii County CEC sports Duke Echate and Kenyan-USA social media influencer Samuel Okemwa.
