William Ruto was declared the winner of this year's general election by IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati. Attorney Steve Ogolla, who was a member of the legal team that represented IEBC in the presidential petition, is confident that the Supreme Court will uphold those results.
He claims that because the bar for invalidating the presidential election was not met, CJ Martha Koome and her colleagues will undoubtedly preserve the results.
"I entertain no question that the threshold for nullification was not achieved because I am an electoral law practitioner who is well-versed in the legal principles and supporting evidence for the petition. The lawyer stated in a statement that the Supreme Court will have no trouble maintaining the presidential election results.
Professor Githu Muigai, who led the IEBC legal team, defended the election's outcome and noted that it was carried out in accordance with the constitution, adding that the issue lies with the voters themselves.
"Neither IEBC nor Wafula Chebukati are ineffective. The way people who take part in the electoral process accept winning or losing is very wrong, according to Muigai, who made his submissions on Thursday of last week.
