Weeks after President William Ruto was sworn into office as the fifth President of Kenya, the race to succeed him after his term ended seems to have garnered momentum.
Among those who have come out to weigh in on the probable candidates to succeed Ruto as Kenya's sixth president is a famous Kenyan intellectual, adviser, reform strategist and policy thinker on governance Professor Peter Kagwanja.
According to the professor who hails from Murang'a county in Central Kenya, Nairobi GovernorJohnson Sakaja could become the next president after William Ruto.
Kagwanja said if the Nairobi governor does his work diligently, then he could be the one to break the Kikuyu-Kalenjin trend of producing presidents and become the sixth if not the seventh president of Kenya.
While describing Sakaja as an able leader, the professor said whoever will manage Nairobi well, then will easily manage the nation if given the mandate.
"If Governor Sakaja does his work well, he might be the 6th or 7th president who is not a Kikuyu or a Kalenjin. He has everything on his hands," he stated
This comes amid the mystery surrounding Sakaja's academic credentials. The vocal UDA governor has been accused of fraudulently obtaining his degree certificate from Team University in Uganda after failing to complete his studies from University o Nairobi
