Barely 2 days since he took his political discourse to Nairobi county to extend the roots of his 'Azimio La Umoja' movement, Raila Odinga went to his rural stronghold in Nyanza region today, probably to ensure his political forays are not swept away by the actively campaigning candidates in his own backyard. While addressing residents in Homabay county, the ODM party leader made a major mistake which is likely to cost him lots of votes in 9th August polls.
Based on the live video coverage that I have shared below, you can note that Raila addressed the residents using pure 'dholuo' dialect. Dholuo is an ethnic language that's spoken by only the Luo community. Following the fact that Homabay is currently a diverse community that contains people from different parts of the country especially Kisii, Kalenjins and Kikuyus lots of his followers that don't understand the dialect may take it personal and fault him (Raila) for neglecting their presence.
Could this cost the former Prime Minister lots of votes and reduce his chances of becoming President Uhuru's successor?
