Speculation High as Ruto’s Ally Set to Ditch UDA for Azimio Movement

With the clock running down to the much anticipated 2022 general elections, politics of supremacy has dominated the atmosphere.

The season of defections and political realignments is here with us. Political leaders are in last minute rush to find suitable political vessels that would see them sail through in various elective positions come August 9, 2022.

Deputy president William Ruto is yet to suffer another blow following decision by his close aide who is set to ditch United Democratic Alliance party with few months remaining before election.

According to reports, it is alleged that Lawyer Cliff Ombeta is set to ditch UDA for Azimio Movement in his quest for Bonchari Parliamentary seat.

Meanwhile, Ombeta has been working closely with allies of the DP especially those from Gusii region where he hails from.

In the Bonchari by-election, Ombeta threw his support behind the then-UDA candidate Teresa Bitutu.

Bitutu lost the contest to ODM’s Pavel Oimeke.

Lawyer Ombeta is one of top legal minds in Kenya. He has appeared in several high-profile criminal cases in the country.
