At this point, there are at least 55 days till the election in August, and the Azimio One Kenya alliance is gaining steam.
It is stated that regions that were previously seen to be strongholds for Kenya Kwanza have suddenly split, and that some are now supporting the presidential campaign of ODM leader Raila Odinga.
During his Sunday visit to Uasin Gishu, Raila's running partner Martha Karua was given a warm reception by local locals, which MPs from the Rift Valley said left them impressed.
Alex Tolgos, the governor of Elgeyo Marakwet, predicted that Azimio will win a significant percentage of the vote in Rift Valkey, which is traditionally held by Ruto.
Tolgos is challenging the incumbent Senator Kipchumba Murkomen of the UDA party for the seat of Senator in Elgeyo Marakwet. Senator Murkomen is a member of the UDA party.
Kipruto Kirwa, who had been serving as Vice Chairman for the UDA party, defected from the camp of William Ruto and joined the camp of Isaac Azimio. Kirwa comes originally from the district of Nandi, which is sometimes referred to as Ruto's bedroom.
On Monday, Raila traveled to Kisii county, which is located nearby in Nyanza, his home region. In the company of Karua, he was accorded a kind welcome.
