MP Kaluma Vows To Present A Bill To Remove Sitting Allowances For All State Officers In 2023

Member of parliament Hon. George Kaluma has threatened to bring a bill to remove sitting allowances for all state officers and to make SRC a part time commission in the new year.

The Member of parliament has revealed this after learning that Members of Independent commissions receive Fifty thousand Kenya Shilling as allowance per meeting. When calculations done, it amounts to more than One Million pay per month which is a huge amount of money and therefore proposed to present a bill to get rid of sitting allowances. This has generated different opinions among Kenyans.

George Kaluma issued a statement at his official twitter account that read, “Members of Independent Commissions, including SRC, receive Sh.50,000 Sitting Allowance per meeting, on top of salary which is over one million per Month. I'll bring a Bill to remove Sitting Allowances for all state officers and to make SRC a part time Commission in the new year.”
