President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed the retired vice chief of the defence forces, Franklin Mghalu, as the chairperson of the National Shipping Line Board for the next there years. Kenyans on Twitter have differently, some supporting the act while others questioning it.
Some Kenyans have questioned the move and bearing in mind that he is exiting State House. Does it serve personal interests? Kenyans ask. Some have said that he should not appoint nor fire anyone as he is exiting and that he does not have the power to do so.
"I thought his powers are limited immediately a president elect is announced."
"Uhuru has no powers to appoint or fire anymore."
Others have connected the appointment to the rising youth joblessness in the country, arguing that bringing back the retired to government offices denies the youth chances for employment.
"That's why the youths are jobless if the president will be bringing back the retired to offices."
Some have termed the act as last kicks of saving himself as he and the president elect differ in governmental management.
"Last kicks of a dying horse."
Other comments on Twitter are;
"Uhuru needs to be stopped from acting illegally."
"Why appoint someone when exiting, that's not right."
"That is null and void."
"To protect your Lamu port operations."
"As a news broadcaster, you should not just tell us what Uhuru has done, but also have lawyers to tell us if it is legal or illegal. We are I'm a transition period and we don't recognize Uhuru as our president."
