Kenya’s former Prime Minister Raila Odinga landed in Tanzania where he held talks with the sitting President Mama Samia Suluhu. The meeting coming only hours after he met another close friend of his and the newly elected president of Zambia Zekahinde who was sworn in yesterday in an event that was attended by over 10 heads of countries.

But why are these meetings important to Raila? To get regional support, Raila needs to create a good working relationship with the head of state from neighboring countries to ensure that he gets the much needed support.

So far in less than three months, Raila has met close to three heads of state. They include Samia Suluhu from Tanzania, Hakainde from Zambia, and also from Zimbabwe. Raila is seeking to get the nod from Kenyans to run the government in the next polls of 2022.
