The cabinet secretary in charge of interior coordination made a decision that has many Kenyans wondering why all eight of the region commissioners who served under former president Uhuru Kenyatta have recently been replaced. The Nairobi region will now be led by a new regional commissioner.
Katie Mwanza, who has been nominated by the cabinet secretary as the new regional leader who will oversee the safety of the capital in light of recent increases in criminal activity and the growth of criminal gangs, will be the new regional commandant for Nairobi in today's reshuffle.
After being transferred from Baringo, where he was one of many people redeployed, he now takes the place of Bungei, who was also recently mentioned by the new inspector general of police, Japheth Koome.
The eight who were serving in the side areas have been relocated back to the interior coordinating headquarters, with the new modifications going into effect right away.
