Mount Kenya Foundation has become one of the most talked about organisations in Kenya in the recent times especially because of the manner in which they have actively been involved in the 2022 succession politics debate.
This has however put them at loggerheads with DP Ruto’s camp that now feels that they are somehow biased. On Sunday 2021-10-10 Bonny Khwalwale who is one of Ruto’s foot soldiers accused the Mount Kenya Foundation of a plot to influence the outcome of the presidential election in 2022.
“Mount Kenya Foundation want it believed that they can choose the 5th President for Kenyans. COTU’S Francis Atwoli, dreams of reading out to the Baluhyia a list of leaders to be elected. Gentlemen, there are some things in life that money cannot buy,” stated Khalwale.
This outrage by the former Kakamega Senator comes in the wake of heightening discussion between the Mount Kenya Tycoons and most of the key political figures in the country. At first the cabal met the ODM leader Raila Odinga whom they gave a list of demands and grievances.
They later met the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) leaders like Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula, Gideon Moi and Kalozno Musyoka. All these time, there has been no indication that the group is planning to meet the Deputy President William Ruto who is also a very serious presidential aspirant.
Could they be deliberately snubbing Ruto? We can’t know about that for sure however one thing that now remains clear is that DP Ruto’s allies are not happy with the sudden turn of events.
