Waruguru, in her birthday message, urged young women to be bold and courageous enough to seek elective seats. The other powerful woman celebrating her birthday today is Mama Ida Odinga, wife to the former prime minister and ODM leader Raila Odinga. Ida Odinga, who turns 51, met her future husband, Raila Odinga, at the University of Nairobi. Ida was a student at the time, while Raila worked in the university's Department of Engineering. She went on to teach at Kenya High School after graduating from the University of Nairobi. Joyce Laboso, the late Governor of Bomet County, and supreme court judge Njoki Ndung'u were among her students. Unfortunately, due to Raila Odinga's politics, the government of the day dismissed her from her job.
