Prof George Magoha was born in Gem Siaya county in 1952. Prof magoha had asthma at a very young age and interestingly this earned him a trip to Nairobi to live with his elder brother John Obare. He attended Dr David Livingstone Primary School, in Nairobi and later joined Starehe Boys' Centre and School, where he completed his O-Level. Thereafter he was admitted to Strathmore university before securing scholarship program to study medicine at the University of Lagos.

They are blessed with one son Dr. Michael Magoha. Here are the three interesting facts about Prof George Magoha that will brighten your day :
1. The Magohas are all doctors.
The son Dr. Michael Magoha graduated from the University of Nairobi’s School of Medicine in 2009 later on in 2011 studied neurosurgery at the same university.Dr Michael Magoha [photo/ courtesy]
His mother Dr. Barbara O Essien Magoha is a consultant obstetrician and gynecologist at Kenyatta National Hospital and the man himself is a neurosurgeon.
2. University of Nairobi Ties.
Professor Magoha was the University of Nairobi Vice chancellor for 10 good years. His wife and son seem to be following in his footsteps as they are currently lecturing in the same university.
3. Professor Magoha and Dr Fred Matiang'i Boss reversal roles.
Magoha was the former Vice Chancellor at the University of Nairobi, where he became the first public servant to be competitively appointed, serving for 10 years until 2015. During his time Dr Fred Matiang'i was lecturing at the same university. Later on Dr Fred Matiang'i was appointed the education Minister by President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2015. At this point Magoha worked under him as the chairman of KNEC. Sounds interesting.
