Mama Rachel Ruto.
This was the third public meeting this year that Rachel Ruto held under the auspices of Destiny Women Capital.
President William Ruto’s wife Rachel has partnered with an investment group, known as Destiny Women Capital, to celebrate women across the globe as they strive to achieve economic empowerment.
Through their affordable financing solutions, Destiny Women Capital is giving women-led enterprises a competitive edge in the business sphere, strategically positioning them for success and influence in society.
Those who attended Rachel's meeting were dressed in their original clothing and not the yellow of United Alliance Democratic Party associated with Ruto.
Rachel who attended Likuyani Primary and Butere Girls in Western Kenya is a tough, independent-minded woman who has largely been overshadowed by her politically prominent husband.
While addressing the residents of Cherangany Rachel did not shy away from urging the people to vote for her husband. The message was cleverly sandwiched in her clarion call for women's emancipation through financing and training to run small-scale businesses.
“Women now have a voice to advocate for their rights through financial inclusion strategies such as Table Banking, which have earned them a seat at the decision-making table,” said Mama Ruto.
She was careful not to use words associated with her husband such as bottom-up but she articulated similar ideals in the battle to empower women.
Rachel Ruto rarely steps into the public limelight.
Just like Kenya's First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, Rachel Ruto is held in respect across the country and has always chosen to stay out of the murky world of politics. If however, she decides to go on the campaign trail as her latest endeavors are being construed her words will certainly carry more weight than most of Ruto's allies.
