Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Gender and Affirmative Action, Aisha Jumwa was among the key guests that graced the homecoming of Azimio deputy governor on Saturday, 18 March
Kilifi County Deputy Governor Flora Mbetsa held her homecoming event at the Dr Krapf Grounds in Rabai, where several leaders across the political divide in Kilifi County and Kenya attended
Aisha Jumwa graced the event together with Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung'aro.
It should be noted that Aisha Jumwa contested against Mung'ara and his deputy Flora Mbetsa in the last general election and lost to them, but regardless of that, she attended the event which was considered by many to be Azimio leaders' event.
Taking to social media on Saturday evening after the event, Aisha Jumwa noted that it is now time for leaders to come together and work together for the sake of the people of Kilifi
"I joined the people of Rabai Constituency in Kilifi County for a thanksgiving service of the Deputy Governor of Kilifi County Hon.Flora Mbetsa at Dr Krapf grounds
"It's now time for all leaders to hold hands and deliver essential services to the people," said the CS.
Governor Mung'aro also lauded Aisha Jumwa for attending the event which most people perceived to be her opponent's event.
He noted that it is a clear demonstration that leaders from the county are ready to work together regardless of their political differences
"Our unity as leaders in this region has been demonstrated. It is key to the achievement of the development goals we have set for our people," he said.
The DG, on the other hand, noted she was grateful to see leaders across the political divide attend her event.
"There is no way we can go forward except together. I am grateful to, and inspired by the united presence of, leaders across the political divide in Kilifi County and Kenya who graced my Thanksgiving Service at Dr. Krapf Grounds in Rabai," she said
