In Riftvalley region six Governors, Jackson Mandago (Uasin Gishu), Josphat Nanok (Turkana) Patrick Khaemba (Trans Nzoia), Paul Chepkwony( Kericho) and Samuel Tonui( Narok) are burning midnight oil trying to find a place that best suits them after they call it quits at their county offices.

The list is endless but worth noting is that a good number of these Governors have already declared interest in the presidency while others have remained mum with the reality of being send to oblivion hiting them hard.

Others on realising how crowded them race for the House on Hill is crowded and how minimal their chances are, they have chosen to swallow a humble pie and go for the senetorial seats in their counties to keep their stakes high of remaining politically viable. Such a Governor is the Kericho county boss Prof Paul Chepkwony who has not once that he will be eyeing the Senate seat in the 2022 general elections.

According to the professor's handlers, the governor wishes to switch seats with incumbent senator Aaron Cheruyoit who has expressed interest in the gubernatorial seat. The governor is on record affirming they could easily have a gentleman's agreement and switch seats.

“Cheruiyot is a friend of mine and is a gentleman. Come 2022, we are going to enter into talks and switch seats. He can run for the governor’s seat after my term and I can also go for Senate,” Chepkwony is in record saying.

Narok Governor Alex Tunai has also hinted on going for the Senatorial seat currently held by Ledama ole Kina. According to his allies Tunai who went against the grain to defeat Patrick Ntutu despite coming from a minority clan. He will be banking on his track record as a two term Governor to help him get the Senatorial seat come 2022.

While a number have gone mum on their political future after their term lapses, they are believed to be silently crafting their future behind potential Presidential candidates who if they win will come to their rescue.
