It's Martha Karua for Raila's Running Mate, Gikuyu Elders Say

There has been a tug of war in picking Azimio La Umoja - One Kenya Alliance Party Coalition running mate even after the ODM leader named Azimio panel members to interview and vet running mate hopefuls. Even as the interview is nearing closure with potential running mates interviewed and shortlisted, the Kikuyu Council of Elders (KCE) on Tuesday endorsed Narc - Kenya party leader Martha Karua as the most suitable running mate for Raila Odinga ahead of August 9th polls.

According to Gikuyu elders, the Head of State's running mate is a serious appointment, which given their recent experience, requires a mature person with a public track record of good value principles, citizen - centered, consistently focused and unselfish. Therefore, out of the ten already interviewed running hopefuls, Ms. Karua has the best understanding of democracy and politics.

The Gikuyu elders have been backed up by the Kiama Kiama national office who have equally pointed out that, Ms. Karua suits the Deputy position since she has best experience and synergy in politics and democracy.

According to Ndungu wa Gaithama, the national chairman, out of the four candidates for Raila’s running mate from Mt Kenya; Peter Kenneth, Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Chege, Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya, and Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui, therefore, they will be happy if they get the Narc Kenya party leader as the running mate and later the DP to the former Prime Minister.
