President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta has always maintained that one of his legacy to leave a united country. Recently we have seen him holding meetings with the former Nasa principles, Gideon Moi and Martha Karua on matters BBI. Some political pundits have speculated that these could be a political formation towards the 2022 general election. Although there have been some political exchange between these members with Kalonzo Musyoka urging Raila Odinga to support him since he supported him twice in the past Presidential elections.

The wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi, Kanu leader Gedion Moi and Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula have agreed to work together towards the 2022 general election. But the biggest headache they face is who will be the flag bearer and who will be the running mate. In my considered opinion Moses Wetangula is not keen on the predirency in 2022 while Gedion Moi is preparing himself for the 2027 presidential election. This leaves us with Musalia Mudavadi and Kalonzo Musyoka to agree on who to be the presidetial candidate.

On the other hand there is Raila Odinga who although he has not yet declared his bid for the presidency, his supporters and close Allie haV always maintained that he will be the front runner in Odm party. Other politicians like Hassan Joho and Wycliffe Oparanya who intend to run for the presidency using the Odm party ticket. The Machakos governor Alfred Mutua also has declared his interest in the seat. The deputy president William Samoei Ruto declared his bid long time ago as its clear that nothing can stop him from running for the top seat.

But in my considered opinion I strongly believe that the 2022 presidential election is still a two horse race with the "horses" here being Odm party leader Raila Odinga and The deputy president William Samoei Ruto. The first reason why I believe 2022 will be a tight race between Raila Odinga and Ruto is because the Kalonzo Musyoka camp has no proven and tested countrywide support. This is because there parties have few members countrywide. In fact most of these parties have tribal support rather than countrywide support.

On the other hand Raila's Odm party has a countrywide support base. William Samoei Ruto as the competitor is charismatic and knows what to say to his suporters. With this quality Ruto has given president Uhuru a headache as far as the larger Mt Kenya politics is concerned. Ruto has done campaigns all over the country and has attracted supporters countrywide. If elections are held today, I strongly believe William Samoei Ruto and Raila Odinga will share 99% of the Kenyan votes. I don't know what you think but that's my take.
