However, before the declaration, confusion emerged on the validity of the presidential results after four of the 7 IEBC commissioners claimed that the results were not clear citing allegations of opaqueness in the way in which the elections were held adding that the process of tallying was not transparent.
Addressing the press on August 16 at the Serena Hotel, the four commissioners led by Juliana Cherera they said that the total percent of the final presidential results exceeded 100 percent mark, adding that the 0.01 percent translates to 142,000 votes, which implacted the final results.
They claim that the final results of the presidential polls held in August 9, declared and announced by Wafula Chebukati on August 15th 2022 belonged to himself and do not represent the declaration and announcement by IEBC
