What Next For Mathira Parliamentary Seat After The Exit Of Rigathi? UDA Party Issue Statement

On 15th May, the current Mathira Member of Parliament Hon Rigathi Gachagua was appointed as the running mate to Deputy President William Ruto in the oncoming August elections. This therefore means, Rigathi wil not contest again as an MP since the constitution does not allow such.

During the nominations, the Mathira seat was reserved for Rigathi because it was not yet clear if was going to be elevated to running mate position. With the sudden Change of things, the party has been left with no other option but to try and find another replacement for that seat.

It is due to this dilemma that the party through its National Election Board Chairman issued an official statement over the same. According to notice released, the party now invites any interested aspirant to make application within three days from the day of notice. This they do as to ensure Mathira returns back to hustler nation.

Incase an aspirant comes forward, he will face it off with other candidates either from Independent or Jubilee. This comes just few hours after Kenya Kwanza brigade led by the DP had a successful tour of Mathira during the burial of Rigathi's brother. It therefore believed that Rigathi will play a huge role in selecting the next occupant of Mathira seat.
