Deputy President William Ruto has finally come out to confirm the rumours of his association with the new party in the block. For sometime now, the Deputy President has been seen to be supporting the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party. The By-elections which have been held in the country have all had a UDA candidate contesting and the candidates have all been going to meet the Deputy President in his Karen residence.
Matungu and Kabuchai By-elections had the UDA candidates and the allies of the Deputy President like Murkomen and Moses Kuria were there to campaign for them. Jubilee party for instance had fielded a candidate in Juja By-election and the Deputy President took to twitter to congratulate Koimburi who won on Moses Kuria's party Peoples Empowerment Party (PEP). While on a tour to West Pokot county today, the Deputy President asked the people who had turned up in large numbers to welcome him whether they knew the party they were going to and the people in unison said that it was UDA.
This new development now puts the Jubilee party members at a crossroads as there are members who are supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta and others Deputy President William Ruto. Some Jubilee members like Soi Member of parliament have come out to publicly say that they will use UDA party to run for their seats in next year's polls.
