Duale Sends a Passionate Plea to Uhuru, Claims What Will Give The Next President Sleepless Nights

The former Majority leader of the National Assembly Aden Duale has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to allow Kenyans make their own decision on who should be their president after August 2022.

Duale was reacting to remarks made by the president last week that seemingly endorsed the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga while downplaying his Deputy William Ruto.

Speaking with the Star on Sunday, Duale said that it will be an act of statesmanship and patriotism for the head of state to join hands with both Raila and Ruto, and assure both of them that he will support whoever will win the post.

"It would have been better if the President, Deputy President, and Raila hold hands. The President, like Kibaki, should say; ‘go compete, whoever will win; I will hand over the instrument of power, him not talking with his deputy, are we talking of a united county? No," posed Duale.

He went on to allege that the president's successor will have sleepless nights after taking the instruments of power since the living standards had increased, and the debt crisis had ballooned within the past few years.

"The next president, whoever it would be, will not rest easy following the country’s debt crisis,"he added.
