Evans Kidero Makes Comeback With Passionate Appeal to Politicians

Former Nairobi Governor Dr. Evans Kidero has implored on politicians in Homa-Bay County to conduct their campaign activities peacefully as the country gear to the general polls.

He asked those interested in various seats to exercise decorum during the political activities to facilitate peaceful co-existence among competing camps to prevent violence as the country gears towards the general elections.

Speaking during an official launch of voter registration campaign at Manyatta Chief’s Camp in Kagan Ward within Rangwe constituency, Kidero said there have been increasing cases of hooliganisms engineered by a section of politicians in the county especially during public gatherings.

He explained that lack of tolerance and discipline among the local politicians are the biggest security threats in the region, adding that some of them tend to go overboard by hiring youths to instigate violence.

Kidero further called on politicians to be role models to the young people by showing exemplary behaviors in order to have a responsible generation in the community.

He, however, decried the low turnout witnessed in Homa-Bay County where only 10,000 people have registered as voters since the exercise commenced on October 4 this year.

“My team will be moving across the county to mobilize and facilitate those who have not registered as voters to ensure they do so within the remaining two weeks,” said Kidero.

The politician is eyeing Homa Bay County gubernatorial seat in the 2022 elections.

The former Nairobi governor has been less vocal in the different issues affecting the country, but could now be making a comeback in preparation for the 2022 race.
