President Ruto Assures Kenyans That There Will Be No Additional Cost on Electricity

President Ruto has assured the people of Kenya that there will be no additional cost on electricity contrary to what had been said earlier. Previously, the media had reported that the cost of power would rise as from date one year two thousand and twenty three. This is after the government had eliminated the low cost Kenya power electricity subsidy. Speaking at a service in Mombasa county, Ruto said that the government had already removed the subsidies in the month of August year two thousand and twenty two hence the electricity cost will not go up.

President Ruto added that the government is not shying away from making tough decisions that will enable sustainable economic growth. He also disclosed that the removal of subsidies on basic commodities saved the country over twenty five billion monthly. This is even after International Monetary Fund and Kenya Power had opposed further extension of the cheap electricity subsidy placed by former president Uhuru Kenyatta's government. The former administration placed the cushion programme amid social tension and pressure following a cost of living crisis that continued untouched to date.

That's a sign of good governance from the President Ruto. I commend his good work.
