With the current wave of politicians wanting to Change the constitution, Kivutha Kibwana has urged politicians and other stakeholders to consider that.
" In my considered opinion, we should consider constitutional review untill after 2022 general election. After that we should review the Bomas draft. It is not judicious to handle reconstitution of IEBC, delimitation of constituencies, referendum and general election inside 12 months" Kivutha Said.
Constitutional reforms will needs a lot of money to facilitate it, holding the reforms will burden the taxpayers. There are other more urgent issues which needs to be addressed and reconstitution of IEBC is not one them. There is a lot of untold suffering kenyans are passing through as a result of covid.
Politicians should channel this effort of wanting to increase elective positions to helping kenyans to cope up with the covid effects. Money which has been allocated also to referendum should be directed to boosting small and medium enterprises as this will form the backbone of economy recovery phase.
