"You'll Regret, You Made A Grave Mistake" Kikuyu Elders Sends A Warning To Mt Kenya Residents

On Sunday, the Kikuyu Council of Elders acknowledged that before deciding to support the Azimio la Umoja coalition and its presidential nominee Raila Odinga, it had not accurately read the political climate in the Mt. Kenya region.

The results, which saw Deputy President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance surpass Azimio by emphatically taking over the region's political soul, are cause for reflection, according to the council's chairman, Mr. Wachira Kiago.

"We admit defeat, but that does not mean that we were in error. Similar to how the majority's decision to crucify the messiah Jesus Christ proved that the majority is not always right, "said he.

He claimed that some people are mocking the elders for taking a political stance that the electorate utterly rejected.

"We stated that even after retiring, President Uhuru Kenyatta should continue to rule the country. We ultimately decided that Raila Odinga would make the best president to succeed Kenyatta. Regardless of the results of the vote, that continues to be the morally sound position for our community "said he.

However, Mr Kiago stated that the scenario is perfectly acceptable in a democracy, "but it does not imply wisdom."

"Our community made an emotional decision, and it will take some time for them to wake up and see our point," he said.

"Our people will soon realize what a grave error it was to sell their souls to Dr. Ruto and put their future in his hands without even [having] a political party of their own." He continued
