Bishop Wanjiru Wants Starehe RO Sacked

Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, a candidate for senator in Nairobi, has called for the replacement of the Starehe constituency Returning Officer because of delays in the tallying of ballots.

Wanjiru, who is running for president on a UDA ticket, has claimed that the RO is attempting to postpone the announcement of the presidential vote.

"There was a problem with a box that was delivered late in Embakasi Central, and if we waited any longer to announce the results for president, parliament, and county assembly, we would have to cancel the entire election." They are holding everyone in captivity with little items, and that is wrong, "as she put it.

According to Wanjiru, the RO is to blame for the problems in that district since he is giving people the runaround and not communicating clearly.

This is the only site where this has happened, and we know who's to blame: the returning officer. We've made it clear that she must be removed from her position, and she has refused.

On Thursday evening, the Starehe constituency tallying center was rocked by confusion and delays as officials prepared to reveal the results of the parliamentary seats. Eventually, a high-ranking IEBC officer intervened to try to break the impasse.

When he heard that his constituents were gathered at Jamhuri High School, he appealed to them to give returning officer Milliam Wanjiru additional time to make the results announcement.

But the impatient audience wouldn't go on. The RO repeated the identical request at midnight, saying the results would be released at 6 a.m.
