With only 18 months remaining to the next general election, the Coast region is emerging as ODM leader Raila Odinga's biggest headache.
Having reigned supreme in the region since the 2005 referendum, Raila could be facing the biggest test in his bid to remain in full control of the politically significant Coast.
With Deputy President William Ruto showing an insatiable appetite to use Raila's own party members to make inroads in the region, the former Prime Minister finds himself in an awkward political position. Can he reverse the gains made by Ruto so far?

Baya's entry into the anti- Raila camp in the region appears to have energized Ruto's political axis.
Driven by his desire to form a Coast party to spearhead the region's political interests, Baya has been firing salvos at Raila and ODM.
According to the vocal MP, ODM has failed the region and that it is high time they chart their own political path away from the former Prime Minister.
Though he is no equal to Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi, but Baya is slowly walking away with a good number of votes into the DP's camp.
If not checked, the former teacher will finally kick out Raila from the Coast region.
And with Kingi's term coming to the end in 2022, many expect him to lose his political voice. Will it be Baya's time to finally shine? Time will tell.
