2022 political season is officially on and Kirinyaga has not been left behind as the county is likely again to produce another female governor come 2022.
Although Anne Waiguru is seen as the top contender, Women representative Purity Ngirici has also shown signs of vying for the top seat in the county. On the list is Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua as it is alleged she might try her luck once again for the second time after a humiliating defeat in 2017.
We focus on the three above leaders and what might make one among them the next county chief come 2022.
A) Anne Waiguru
The first-term governor was elected on a Jubilee ticket and she was among the first three women in the country to be elected as governor. Her close association with Dp Ruto allies has sparked debate after her competitor cried foul following recent events within the county.
B) Purity Ngirici
She is the incumbent Kirinyaga Women representative and her close relationship with William Ruto has earned her praises and famed at the same time. She is among the founders of the UDA party which is associated with Deputy President and whose slogan is Kazi ni Kazi.
C) Martha Karua
Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua though she has not publicly declared her intentions of vying for the gubernatorial seat for the second time, it is alleged that the iron lady might try her luck for the second time if she is not picked as a running mate by any presidential candidate come 2022. Her interim position as Mt Kenya spokesperson has earned her praises within the mountain due to her firm stand on Mt Kenya's share of the national cake come next year.
