The Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) received applications from 171 interested candidates after the position of a male member was declared vacant.
The commission has shortlisted suitable candidates for the position pending interviews to ascertain suitability to serve in the commision.
Out of the 71 applications, PSC has ahortlisted only eight candidates for the position pending interviews set for late this month.
UDA Chairman Johnson Muthama and Ex-Kisii Governor James Ongwae are among the eight candidates shortlisted for the position of Male member of the Parliamentary Service Commission.
The interviews for the position will be conducted on Friday, December 30th 2022 where the shortlisted candidates will appear before the vetting panel.
Muthama who despite being an ally to President William Ruto has not been appointed to wny government position had in the past hinted at being in a critical position in President Ruto's administration and could be seen appointed to the PSC.
