The approval of Nakuru to be a City was passed by the Senate under the stewardship of Senator Kajwang.
During his tour to Nakuru tomorrow 1st December, President Kenyatta is set to confer the town with a charter upgrading it to be a City.
Some locals have however expressed their concerns that the cost of living in the City is likely to rise because of speculated higher taxation and disruption of small scale traders along the streets of the busy town. Some have also foreseen that rent rates are likely to increase.
Governor Kinyanjui has said that the City Status is expected to boost trade in the Rift Valley's biggest town.
