Duale Detects What Uhuru Plans to do Next Year, Warns of What'll Happen if he Tries it

President Uhuru Kenyatta should not think that he can influence what happens in next year's presidential elections, he has been told.

Uhuru is seen as very keen on deciding who succeeds him, with pundits and his allies observing that he has settled on ODM boss Raila Odinga.

But he has been warned that such an attempt will backfire, with Garissa Town MP Aden Duale observing that he indeed plans to interfere.

Speaking on Saturday, Duale said that Uhuru lacks the might to do the same, and will end up humiliated if he doesn't allow Kenyans freely to decide.

"Mr Kenyatta cannot fix the succession politics of our country. He cannot decide who will be the next President in 2022 for us," said the leader.

The former National Assembly Majority Leader spoke when he accompanied Deputy President William Ruto, a 2022 presidential aspirant, on a campaign tour of Mombasa county.

Ruto bashed the President over allegations that he is keen on blocking his presidency in favour of ODM leader Raila Odinga, Uhuru's new closest buddy.

The Second In Command wondered why the Head of State is turning against him after he helped him secure two elections; in 2013 and 2017.

"I helped Raila and campaigned for him until he became Prime Minister, I similarly helped Uhuru become President and I was a very good man then, so how come I am suddenly a bad man? Isn't that fraud," he wondered.

He also took a swipe at the two over their collapsed BBI law amendments push, saying that until Kenyans are fully served, there will be no referendum in Kenya.

Duale is among former allies of Uhuru who abandoned him for the DP after their fallout, which has resulted in division in the ruling Jubilee Party.
